The Insurance Claim Process - What To Expect

Choose What to expect when calling in the claim:

1. Call the claims department, not the agent. The agent should be called if you are not happy with the service of the claims department.
2. Upon the initial call to the claims department, they will more than likely tell you an adjuster will call you back within 24-48 hours to set up an inspection.
3. When the adjuster calls you back they may try to set a "window" appointment for you. (ie: between 9-12 on Tuesday or between 12-4 on Thursday). Kindly let them know you would like your contractor to be present and request a specific day and time if possible. Please know, during a catastrophic event this may not be possible and that is absolutely okay to perform the inspection without us being present.

What to expect during and after the adjuster appointment:

1. The adjuster will perform a thorough inspection and provide a scope of work itemizing their findings for us to review.
2. Give the adjuster the invoice for the emergency tarp, this is considered part of the claim.
3. The adjuster may or may not issue the initial check at the time of inspection. This will depend on the amount of the claim and the accommodations of your policy. If an initial check is issued onsite, it will more than likely not be for the full amount of the claim. Most insurance carriers hold back "recoverable depreciation" to ensure the work is completed before releasing the balance to you.
4. Once the project is completed, we will provide the necessary paperwork and certificate of completion to the insurance carrier which will allow them to release the recoverable depreciation to you.
5. Let the adjuster know that you give them permission to speak with us and then either you or have the adjuster email the scope of work to us for review.
